11 PLUS SUCCESS

JWT celebrates as offers arrive!

Alleyn’s, Dulwich, City, Chigwell, Blackheath, Highgate, Latymer, Putney High, Godolphyn and Latymer, Latymer Upper, Sevenoaks, and Belmont… To name a few. Our students’ hard work has paid off brilliantly this year. They’ve had some outstanding results, and we couldn’t be more delighted. It has been such a pleasure to see them blossom.

At JWT, we understand that practice makes perfect, but we also know that confidence counts and we encourage that in our students.

“I love to show my 11+ pupils the work they were doing when we first met and comparing it with the amazing creative writing and analysis they are producing at the end of the course,” Emma says.

"Preparing for the 11+ tests is stressful. I do think it helps if they can actually enjoy seeing the progress they are making and revel in the English skills they’re developing. If you can enjoy it AND get results - well, that's just fantastic.”

PRICED OUT OF PRIVATE SCHOOLS? JWT CAN FILL THE GAPS

Priced out of private schools? Not happy with your state school place? Don’t panic. We are already supporting parents who have chosen JW Tuition as a cost effective way to fill the gaps.

Emma Hawkey, JWT Associate, is seeing a surge in young people who are making the move from private to state education and want the benefits of 1-2-1 tuition:

“I have a growing group of students whose parents had to decline places at selective schools as a result of the VAT policy. But there is a silver lining.

“Our bespoke booster sessions, designed around the child’s latest homework or a recent assessment - with loads of input from the parents and pupil - are one of my favourite things about tutoring. I feel as though I am offering a taste of the highly personal, tailored approach taken at the best private schools to bolster the teaching provided at the child’s new school. It gives the child a bit of confidence - and the parents, too. It really seems to work!”

Last week was a key educational milestone in England and Wales: the allocation of state school places to a large cohort of children who might have expected to be starting at an independent school of their choice - or staying at their existing school.

According to data from the ISC (Independent Schools Council), many parents unable to afford the 20% uplift in fees following the government’s removal of the VAT exemption, have already made the decision to enter their children into the state system - nearly 9,000 children have already left the independent sector, with 3,000 poised to join them in September. That’s nearly four times the government estimate.

“Are there going to be spaces in the right places with the right provision for those children in the state sector? It’s a real worry,” says Julie Robinson, ISC chief executive. “And the real test is going to be in September 2025."

At Jacqueline Wheeler Tuition we’re discovering that some parents are finding a happy middle ground with us.
