"I highly recommend Jacqueline; she is an excellent tutor"
Y.A., Managing Director, HSBC
Founder and tutor
Writing is a form of self-expression that we can all enjoy and benefit from. Children develop their written skills at different ages but my goal is to make writing pleasurable and rewarding, to nurture my students’ tentative beginnings in writing so that they are motivated to reveal their wonderful and unique imaginations through stories and poetry.
Reading is the essential backdrop to developing analytical skills. Even at GCSE and A Level, I encourage my students to respond to texts using their own emotional and intellectual reactions as a key to writing strong, technically accomplished answers.
I previously worked as a writer/ editor in magazine publishing and as a script reader for theatre and independent film. I moved into English tutoring for 11+, 13+ , GCSE and A Level exams when my children started at secondary school and I have had many years coaching fantastic young people to achieve their best results in selective entrance and public exams. My own children achieved scholarships and bursaries to all the schools they applied to, including the prestigious HSBC Scholarship.
My tutoring business has grown rapidly, primarily through the recommendations of many delighted parents who have seen their children achieve offers and scholarships to the schools of their choice. Our GCSE and A level results are excellent.
I have now brought together a small team of specialist tutors who share both my nurturing approach and my passion for teaching English to a high standard. We have taught hundreds of children and teenagers in the UK and around the globe, in person and via Zoom and Skype.
I have a degree in English from Goldsmiths, London University and an MA in Anglo Saxon Literature and Language, from King’s College, London University.
