GCSE, A Level & IB

“I really enjoyed studying English this year so I’m happy that the results - A* for English Language and 8 for English Literature - reflected that as well. Thank you so much again.”

EXAM SUPPORT & RESITS

English GCSE is an essential requirement for Russell Group University entrance and the minimum expectation is a grade 6, irrespective of the degree the student decides upon.

The exam is in many ways a technical exercise and sometimes very strong students - in terms of insight and love of literature and writing - find the rigidity of the marking a challenge. So, whether your child needs to develop their understanding of the texts or refine their exam technique, we know how to help you.

Our students perform at their best with our support and our consistently excellent results reflect this. It could be that the student is aiming for the top grade, hovering on that boundary of an 8/9, or has struggled with English and wants to make sure they optimise their performance for a commendable pass. We work with the student as individuals, playing to their strengths.

At this level, the process is collaborative, with the best outcomes supported by a piece of homework completed independently each week. We build excellent relationships with students and parents so that this work fits in with the other competing demands of each student’s timetable. However, it is always up to the discretion of parents how much additional work they feel is appropriate.

RESITS

As GCSE exams have returned to the pre-Covid standards, we have been increasingly approached to help students resit GCSE English to improve grades.

We have the expertise to address areas of weakness and sharpen exam technique to ensure significant lift in grades despite the short space of time between receipt of results and resit date.
