Energy and enthusiasm are key when it comes to teaching English. I devise imaginative, fun sessions, aiming to build confidence at the same time as ensuring that core skills of knowledge, wide vocabulary, spelling, grammar and legible handwriting are reinforced.

I’m a former professional journalist and speechwriter, so I understand the challenges faced by children of all ages when confronted by the blank page and I use my insights to creatively guide and support my students. I have been successfully tutoring for 11+, GCSE and A Level English for several years now, as well as having worked as an Academic Mentor at a top-performing London primary school. There I led 1:1 writing sessions, inference training sessions and book clubs.

I have a degree in English from Cambridge University and I am a qualified NTP Tutor and Academic Mentor (Liverpool Hope University).
